The Early Childhood Administrator’s Certificate Option in Child Development is designed to prepare individuals to become program administrators and to assist those currently holding such positions to improve their skills. The curriculum emphasizes both program and business management skills needed for the implementation of quality programs for children. Upon successful completion of the following curriculum, students receive a Certificate of Proficiency. This is not a TSI-waived certificate.

CDEC 1354 - Child Growth and Development
or TECA 1354 - Child Growth and Development
CDEC 1318 - Wellness of the Young Child
or TECA 1318 - Wellness of the Young Child
CDEC 1167 - Practicum-Child Care Provider/Assistant
CDEC 2304 - Child Abuse and Neglect
CDEC 2328 - Administration of Programs for Children II
Approved Elective** (3 semester hours)

Notes

*Although not a requirement for this certificate, students are strongly encouraged to take HUDV 1100 during the first semester of enrollment.
**Approved Electives: The Infant/Toddler Teacher will take CDEC 1339. Students preparing for the CDA Credential Assessment will take CDEC 1341. All other students will take CDEC 1358, 1356, 2307.
