Paralegal Studies Certificate

The Paralegal Certificate Program is designed to introduce students to the paralegal profession. Students must compete 24 semester hours of paralegal studies courses. These courses are designed to provide the student with basic knowledge of the legal profession, law office procedures, legal terminology, court systems, legal document preparation, and procedural and substantive rules of law. Graduates may choose to enter the Paralegal Studies (associate degree) Program or seek entry level employment as a legal office worker in a variety of business sectors, such as private law offices, governmental agencies, real estate companies, financial institutions, law enforcement agencies, corporations, and insurance companies.

The Paralegal Certificate Program advisor is Joseph W. Kline, coordinator and associate professor of paralegal studies.

*Although not a requirement for this degree, students are strongly encouraged to take ORNT 0110 during the first semester of enrollment.

***Enrollment requires compliance with Texas Success Initiative writing level.
