Automotive Collision Repair Technology — Body and Frame Technician, AAS (Major Code 6421)

The Automotive Collision Repair program is designed to prepare qualified graduates for entry-level employment in the collision repair industry. The program provides students two associate degree options, allowing for specialization as a body and frame technician or an automotive refinishing technician. Students successfully completing the curriculum described below will meet all requirements for the Associate of Applied Science degree. An optional plan for the Certificate of Proficiency is also offered.

Program advisor is Robert Hotaling, program coordinator and instructor in automotive collision repair.

Offered at the Levelland Campus

This option in Automotive Collision Repair Technology is for students interested in a career as a body and frame repair technician. Emphasis is placed on vehicle structural design, measuring systems, manufacturer specifications, vehicle control points, build tolerance, metallurgy, steering and suspension, automotive electrical service and repair, writing thorough and accurate damage reports. Students are required to participate in a capstone experience course the final semester. This course consists of a comprehensive lab project and comprehensive written exam. Students who successfully complete the curriculum will receive an Associate of Applied Science degree.

*Although not a requirement for this degree, students are strongly encouraged to take ORNT 0110 during the first semester of enrollment.
