Nursing Advanced Placement Program, AAS (Major Code 8022)

Offered at the Levelland Campus.  Also offered at the Plainview Center and in Muleshoe via ITV.

Advanced placement will be granted to qualifying students in accordance with their previous nursing education, nursing experience and completion of RNSG 2307, 2260 and 1115. Credit for specific nursing courses will be granted to students on an individual basis and in accordance with the nursing curriculum by examinations and evaluation. The prerequisite non-nursing courses must be completed before registering in RNSG 2307, 2260 and 1115. The following curriculum meets the requirements for the Associate of Applied Science degree. The program and courses within the program are subject to approval and changes mandated by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Texas Board of Nursing. Students who have repeated any science course or combination of science courses 3 times without passing,  are NOT eligible for admission to the ADN program.

All nursing and non-nursing courses must have a grade of C or better.

Admission to the advanced placement program will be contingent upon a negative drug screen.  Any student refusing a drug screen will constitute a positive result.  The presence of an adulterant in the drug screen will result in a positive screen.  A positive drug screen will result in forfeiture of your admission into the program.

Admission to the college does not guarantee admission to the program.

Notes


*Upon successful completion of RNSG 2307 and RNSG 2260, academic credit for RNSG 1513, RNSG 1105, RNSG 1144, RNSG 1160, RNSG 1115, RNSG 1441 and RNSG 2460 will be awarded.
**Possible electives include: RNSG 1172 Local Needs in Nursing- Genetics, RNSG 1172 Local Needs in Nursing- Alternative Therapies in Health Care, HPRS 1106 Medical Terminology, or any Arts and Sciences elective course.
***Select one of the following courses: ENGL 2322, ENGL 2326, ENGL 2333, ENGL 2334, FREN, HUMA, PHIL, SPAN 1511 or higher, HIST 1302, or HIST 2301.
