Automotive Collision Repair Advanced Skills Certificate ( Major Code 6420C)

Offered at the Levelland Campus

Students who have completed the Automotive Collision Repair Basic Skills Certificate may elect to continue their training by completing the following curriculum and receive an Advanced Skills Certificate of Proficiency in Automotive Collision Repair. Successful graduates will be trained in all the necessary skills required to enter the workforce as an entry-level technician. Emphasis is placed on advanced skills in surface preparation, straightening damaged parts, refinish techniques, reading damage reports, damage repair, interior trim and glass removal and installation, welding, heating and cooling systems, plastic repair and the theory of vehicle structure design.

This is a TSI-waived certificate. Students declaring this major are not subject to the TSI regulations.

Program advisor is Bob Hotaling, program coordinator and assistant professor of automotive collision repair technology.

Notes


*Although not a requirement, students are strongly encouraged to take HUDV 1100 during the first semester of enrollment.
**Capstone Experience: To qualify for the Certificate of Proficiency, the student must complete a comprehensive lab project and pass a comprehensive written exam.
