This certificate option is designed to prepare qualified graduates for entry-level employment in the automotive industry in areas other than being a service technician.  Emphasis will be placed on service writing, parts sales, vehicle sales, and/or management in any one of the previous three areas with customer relations being a core component.  Students enrolling in this option will also be able to learn valuable workplace skills on site at local automotive dealerships and businesses. To qualify for the Certificate of Proficiency, the student must complete a Capstone Experience in the final semester of the program.

This is a TSI-required certificate program.  Students declaring this major are subject to TSI regulations unless they enroll in a course outside the prescribed curriculum.

Due to the flexibility of the curriculum in this program, it is essential for students to meet with an advisor to complete a degree plan.  Program advisors at the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center are Gary Ufford, professor of automotive Technology and Dr. Jim Wilhelm, professor of business administration.  Program advisors on the Levelland campus are Gary Ham, assistant professor of automotive technology and Cindy Brown, professor of business.
