Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology, AAS (Major Code 7221)

Offered at the Levelland Campus

The Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology program is designed to train the student to install, service and repair residential and commercial heating and air conditioning for both domestic and commercial refrigeration units. Specific areas of training include refrigeration theory, piping procedures, electrical controls, service techniques, troubleshooting techniques, equipment selection and the installation and maintenance of most equipment, including heat pumps.

Students successfully completing the curriculum described below will meet all requirements for the Associate of Applied Science degree. To qualify for the A.A.S. degree, the student must complete a Capstone Experience in the final semester of the program. Optional plans for the Certificate of Proficiency are also offered.

Program advisor is Benny Morris, assistant professor of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration technology.

*Although not a requirement, students are strongly encouraged to take EDUC 1100 during the first semester of enrollment.
