The following curriculum is designed to prepare students for academic transfer to a baccalaureate program where they may complete requirements for a teaching degree with an emphasis in 4th grade through 8th grade (specializations include mathematics, science, English language arts and reading, and social studies). At South Plains College you will complete your college core educational requirements, four education-specific courses, and most of the content-specific coursework for your 4th - 8th grade content certification exam. Articulation agreements and transfer guides that support the seamless transfer into university programs have been established with Texas Tech University, Lubbock Christian University, Wayland Baptist University, West Texas A&M University and Texas Women’s University. This curriculum satisfies all of the requirements for the Associate of Arts in Teaching degree. However, additional course work may be accepted by the transfer university. Consult faculty advisor for more information.
Program coordinator and advisor is Lori Satterwhite, Instructor in Education.
