Offered at the Lubbock CTE Center only.

The Paralegal Certificate Program is designed to introduce students to the paralegal profession. Students must complete 24 semester hours of paralegal studies courses. These courses are designed to provide the student with basic knowledge of the legal profession, law office procedures, legal terminology, court systems, legal document preparation, and procedural and substantive rules of law. To qualify for the Certificate of Proficiency, the student must complete a Capstone Experience in the final semester of the program.  NOTE:  Certificate students must still complete prerequisites for each course; therefore, the certificate program may require more than two semesters to complete.

Students who complete the certificate may choose to enter the Paralegal Studies associate of applied science degree program or seek entry-level employment as a legal office worker in a variety of business sectors, such as private law offices, governmental agencies, court systems, real estate companies, financial institutions, law enforcement agencies, corporations, and insurance companies.  The Paralegal Certificate is a TSI-waived program.
