Offered at the Levelland Campus.

This certificate option is designed to provide individuals who have completed the Sound Reinforcement Certificate with a path that leads to an AAS in Sound Reinforcement Specialization. This curriculum will broaden the student's range of knowledge and skills, thus leading to a greater range of job opportunities upon graduation.  Students will receive practical application of these skills through hands-on experience. Graduates will possess a fundamental knowledge of techniques, procedures, and operation of equipment in the recording studio, TV/film studio, and electronic media production. This includes training in the fundamentals of selection and placement of microphones, recording and editing techniques, audio electronics, troubleshooting, acoustics, video production, and MIDI. The Sound Reinforcement Specialization Certificate is a TSI-waived award.  To qualify for this certificate, the student must complete a Capstone Experience in the final semester.

Students declaring this major are not subject to the TSI regulation unless they enroll in a TSI restricted course outside the prescribed curriculum. Students who successfully complete both Sound Reinforcement Certificates can pursue the AAS in Sound Reinforcement Specialization degree by attaining TSI-compliance and completing the 15-hour core.

The Sound Reinforcement program prepares students to enter an occupation where electrical safety is a critical competency and will require all students to successfully complete a program-specific safety examination prior to participating in laboratory activities. Safety examination includes written and practical “hands-on” preparation, demonstration, and safe operation of occupational processes and equipment.

Program advisors are Matt Quick, Professor of Sound Technology; and Jeremiah Denning, Associate Professor of Sound Technology
