The following curriculum is designed to prepare students for academic transfer to a baccalaureate program where they may complete requirements for a teaching degree with an emphasis in 4th grade through 8th grade (specializations include mathematics, science, English arts and reading, and social studies).  At South Plains College, students will complete their college core educational requirements, four education-specific courses, and most of the content-specific coursework for their 4th-8th grade content certification exam. Articulation agreements and transfer guides that support the seamless transfer into university programs have been established with Texas Tech University, Lubbock Christian University, Wayland Baptist University, West Texas A&M University, and Texas Women’s University. This curriculum below satisfies all of the requirements for the Associate of Arts in Teaching degree. However, additional course work may be accepted by the transfer university. Consult a faculty advisor for more information. Faculty advisors are Lori Satterwhite, Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Education; Dr. Elaine Ramzinski, Associate Professor of College Literacy and Education; Kensey Thompson, Assistant Professor of Mathematics; Gina Becker, Assistant Professor of Mathematics; Emily Gilbert, Assistant Professor of College Literacy and Education.
