The Associate Degree Nursing program is offered at the Levelland Campus. The ADN program is a 60-semester credit hour program is designed to prepare graduates to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Registered Nurse Licensure. The ADN program is accredited by the following: the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, 3343 Peachtree Rd., NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326, (404) 975-5000. The program is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing.

Program Admission Requirements:

Applicants must submit a copy of their high school transcript or GED scores, an official copy of all college transcripts, and must complete the following requirements for admission to SPC:

1. Apply for admission to South Plains College and complete all requirements for admission.  Admission to the college does not guarantee admission to the Nursing Program.

   2. Must be TSI compliant in all areas. This test is administered by the SPC Testing Center.

 3. Complete all required prerequisites. You must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and 2.6    prerequisite GPA. All nursing courses must be passed with a “C” or better. 

 4. All students must complete a Criminal Background check and are deemed eligible for licensure by the Texas Board of Nursing.

   5. Obtain a nursing application from the individual campus or online

    6. A negative drug screen is required upon admission and throughout the program.

   7. All prerequisite and non-nursing courses must have a grade of C or better.

   8. Students accepted into the program will receive physical examination forms provided by the Nursing Department which must be                completed and returned when they see their advisor.

   9. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification (American Heart Association only) must be current and maintained throughout the

10. Non-nursing courses may be taken before enrollment in nursing courses, but not later than sequentially required.

  11. All RNSG courses must be taken concurrently. 

The Associate Degree Nursing program reserves the right to change the curriculum and program policies as deemed necessary for the maintenance of a high-quality education.  The program and courses within the program are subject to approval and changes mandated by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, and the Texas Board of Nursing. The following curriculum meets all requirements for the Associate of Applied Science degree and for eligibility to apply to write the NCLEX-RN Exam.
