The South Plains College Radiologic Technology Program provides an environment that facilitates student success in acquiring the theory and technical skills of a professional medical radiographer. To achieve its mission, the South Plains College Radiologic Technology Program is committed to the following program goals: To provide students an opportunity to acquire the technical skills, effective communication, patient assessment and patient care skills necessary to complete a full range of radiographic procedures on a diverse population of patients. To provide students with the problem solving and critical thinking skills necessary to make competent, informed clinical decisions regarding radiographic procedures. To provide employers and the community with graduate radiographers possessing the skills required of an entry-level medical radiographer. The Radiologic Technology Program consists of courses taught over a period of 22 consecutive months and culminates in an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree. The program is offered in-person at the SPC Reese Center. To qualify for the A.A.S. degree, the student must complete a Capstone Experience during the final semester of the program. South Plains College educational programs are approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The Radiologic Technology Program is programmatic accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). The Radiologic Technology program meets the requirements of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and the Texas Medical Board (TMB).

An articulation agreement has been established with TTUHSC to offer a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a specialization in Radiologic Technology. Students may transfer up to 90 hours of approved community college credit into the program (42 hours required Common Core credits and 48 hours of approved Technical Credits) and complete the remaining 30 credits through TTUHSC. Applications are accepted every semester. All BSHS courses are offered online and are structured on the Fall, Spring, and Summer semester system. Unconditional Admission: Students who have an Associate of Applied Sciences degree in an allied health discipline, an overall GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and have completed the common core curriculum requirement for a baccalaureate degree, have their certification/licensure/registration in their professional field, can apply for unconditional admission to the BSHS program.
